Save Japan Dolphins: Bren+Kels Model

Bren+Kels are so inspiring. I swear I go home for some quality sister time and I end up getting a full education in not only how to be an organic vegetarian but how to be an animal activist and take on saving the planet as a personal challenge. These photographs show their passion for fashion (Bren made her shorts, and Kelsey her skirt) paired with their passion for making a difference in the world. I am so proud of them, they rock.

Hello, Yummy Sushi Rolls

Oh my goodness this is by far my new favorite thing to make! Now only did they come out lovely but they were delish! I would also like to add that Justin even tried on and reported back that he too thought they were yum and thats a lot coming from the guy who "gags" at the sight of sushi. Hooray look! Ingredients can be whatever you like and all you need is organic Nori roll sheets from whole foods.

This weekend I went home and was once again dazzled by little mamas culinary expertise. We dined on french onion soup (UM THE BEST i've ever had and i've had it a million times), eggplant "Parmesan", an array salads including one topped with tomato and fresh guacamole, and a wonderful frittata (all homemade fresh and organic everything, Amazing).

Nautical Vintage Inspired Beach

When I came home this weekend to take pictures of Brenna and Kelsey for their modeling comp cards I also did a fun shoot with them at the beach (again). This time it wasn't vintage swimwear but vintage clothing with a nautical twist. Their hair was left long and wavy, the sea salt and strong winds only added to their voluminous auburn waves. I tried this time to get more images of them together as well, to show off how well they work together. I simply adore this series!

Recipe: Organic Buffalo Burgers

These are simply decisions and a much more lean and yummy alternative to the pretty drab (no offense moo moo's) beef. These savory burgers are of course grilled and made with fresh organic ingredients (LOVE).
Photobucket
Ingredients:
(Makes 3 burgers...or 2 hungry man burgers or 4 "i'm on a diet" burgers)

1 lb organic ground bufalo/bison (from Whole Foods)
1 organic red pepper (diced)
1/2 red onion
2 cloves garlic (diced)
Handful of fresh parsley (chopped fine)
2 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp EVOO
Sprinkling of Oregano, Rosemary, Salt and Pepper
Organic BBQ

Directions:
Combine buffalo, garlic, parsley, soy sauce, spices and 3/4 of the red pepper. Combine with hands. Flatten into 3 patties (make sure to make them pretty flat otherwise they will look like a ball when cooked).

They are now ready for grilling! (Justin does that part)

In a skillet combine EVOO onions, and the rest of the peppers. Sautee until onions are tender. Use a topping for burgers.

They are best when topped with a little organic BBQ Annie's brand is my fav.

Oh, and if you must bun...use 1 slices of your fav organic bread cut in half.

Enjoy!

Love,
Mrs. Allbee, herself

Some more little things

There are few things I like about where we live, but I admit I make the most of it by trying to find as many neat things as possible. Seeing even these small gems let's me relax and be thankful for what I do have here. The solace I am free to find amongst the trees in a forgotten field not yet defaced by marred by the modern world. Find places you treasure and places that make you feel at home where you live. Hold onto them and cherish them for being seemingly simple, yet deeply meaningful.

HAPPY 1st Birthday Pacha!!!

Today is Pacha-poo's first birthday! He is such a wonderful dumpling and while he might have been hard to potty train and might bark at everyone, he is also the most snuggly pup in the world and knows a ton of tricks. We are so thankful for him and thus took some fun pictures with him this afternoon. Mine were taken in the rain! Ha! Justin got the sun. Oh, and I broke my lens again it wont zoom past 24, ugh! Busted Windows

At work I get a call from Justin "You're not going to believe what happened..."

Naturally I feel like i'm going to throw up and or have a panic attack. Needless to say this is what I was not going to believe (or want to believe is more like). Justin opened his car door got in and closed it and the back window spontaneously burst into a billion pieces.

WOW. Just lovely. Like seriously? Does that really happen. WOW.

Photobucket
At least I also came home this this precious face. He does this every day now that we have a window when we come or go. It's a darling display that makes me want to go inside and give him a good squeeze. Plus it's Pacha's 1 year birthday today!!! 1 year birthday pictures to take place in 2 hours...but first little man needs a bath.

Fire and Outside

I came home the day before yesterday to find see a huge cloud of smoke from a fire down the road and I found myself choking back tears as my mind began to race. I left the straight iron on, oh my gosh, the apartments on fire. Where's Pacha? Is he ok? Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Finally I got close enough to our street to see that the fire was just over the bridge from where we live! I couldent help but snap some pictures, um good timeing, I had my camera with me in the car. The nature pictures to follow were taken on an early morning nature adventure yesterday. Always a bright way to start a day.

New Surroundings

Now that we are living in a totally different setting I have so many new places to explore and simple sights to see. There is a huge grassy field (well a few actually) in walking distance from our house; I walked to one yesterday and explored the tall grass. I hate summers here, it's hot and humidity makes you feel sticky and dreadful, but the one thing I do adore about summer is the rain and the tall grass that sprouts in accordance. Those two things make the hot almost bearable.

Expired Polaroid Film

A few weeks ago I purchased a replacement Polaroid camera because I somehow misplaced my old one. I got it for a super deal, $3 at thrift. I immediately went to the store to find that the film had already been taken off the shelves and at $2 an images I was less than excited about purchasing my 30 pack for $60. When my family came to visit me yesterday they brought along a wonderful gift; a pack of expired film that my grandpa had found in the back of his car! Wahoo! I love how the expired film looks even more than the original film. I love the way looking at the film makes me feel. Nostalgia and melencoly mingled with passion and the urge to create. *sigh* these three images made me realise they are so worth the $2 each, which might be bad considering I very badly would love to take more.

Fav Visits: Whole Foods, 5Min Mini-Shoot, Thrift

When the fam visits we do things right. We started the visit off with some always delish, always amazing Whole Foods lunch. BK and I had margarita pizza, Daddy had BBQ and little Mama and Gram shared some amazing looking (and tasting) turkey and veggies. Note: Brenna was not happy about my photographing of her pizza cutting as you will see momentarily (ha!). Then we stopped for a 5 min mega mini photosession. It was scorching hot outside and the peak of sunshine for the day so we opted for sunglasses; let's minimize squinting! Unfortunalty there were only a few images and I shot them on the wrong ISA speed (ditz moment to the maxx! so they are not my fav, but of course the models "made it work!"). After that we ran back to the car thankful for airconditioning and whole foods .89 cent water. Next everyone toured our new townhouse and we took our Polaroid pics (POST TO FOLLOW TONIGHT! Woo!)! We ended the day with thrift store fun and meeting Justin on his break for Gelato, yum.
